Elder’s Meditation of the Day November 16

Elder’s Meditation of the Day November 16
“We do not want riches, but we want to train our children right. Riches would do us no good. We could not take them with us to the other world. We do not want riches, we want peace and love.”
–Red Cloud, OGLALA LAKOTA
The Elders say that what is important is peace and love. To have material things is okay, but if not, that’s okay too. To have peace and love is more important than anything material. Our children will see the value of peace and love only if adults show they are a priority. Too often we think we can offer material things and they will replace the time spent with our children. But the most important way to give our children peace and love is to spend time with them.

My Creator, give me Your peace and love today.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – September 1

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – September 1
“Everyone has a song. God gives us each a song. That’s how we know who we are. Our song tells us who we are.”
–Charlie Knight, UTE
As we start to walk the Red Road and as we develop ourselves as Warriors, a song will come to us. This song is given to each of us from the Great Spirit. Whenever we sing this song, we will receive courage and strength, not only for ourselves but if we sing this song for others, it will also help them. The song will give us power and make us feel really good. The song will make us see life in a sacred way. If you don’t have your song yet, ask the Creator in prayer if He will give you your song. With the song comes a responsibility – the responsibility to act and conduct oneself as a Warrior according to your song.

Oh my Creator, let me live my song. Let my song honor Your way of life. Let me sing my song each day. At the end of today, let my song tell people who I am. I am a beautiful child of the Creator.

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – August 2

by tgradmin on Aug.03, 2009, under Inspiration

oakfallMany of us, when we are young, spend a portion of our lives in learning. Unfortunately, some of us spend this time learning the hard way. When we are young we sometimes think we know everything. Sometimes we do foolish things. As we get a little older, we realize we don’t know anything. This is when we become teachable. There is a saying that goes, when the student is ready, the teacher appears. We usually aren’t teachable unless we are ready. The ancestors are waiting and willing to help. When we are ready, many beautiful teachers start to come into our lives. Then we really start to grow and mature. We are ready for the spiritual lesson.

After a very scary post-birth episode for the girls broodmare, the lovely Arianna and her new filly, I am happy to report they are both doing great!
Although the girls and I checked on them every few hours, Arianna must have had a slight uterine infection begin.  Then after 36 hrs from foaling, and in 105 heat index, Arianna started shutting down, going off feed and even water, even though she needed fluids for herself and to produce milk for her filly.
My 12 yr old Jackie and I were attending to Arianna while the other girls were at Circle C Cowboy Youth Camp.  I couldn’t get anyone to answer the phone at the area clinics being a Sat/holiday. Then we decided to drive to town to look for someone at the two local vet clinics and found Dr Gilbert in checking on another heat stressed horse (colic).  We told him of our concerns, and even though it was the 4th of July, he said go bring her in.  When Arianna and her filly arrived, the mare had 104 temp, heartbeat of nearly 80, no gut sounds, and toxic dark gums.  Dr Gilbert warned me that this was not good.  He said if I hadn’t brought her in at that time she would have been history in an hour.
The girls were in the office and began to pray for Arianna, for relief of her pain.  My daughter Maral stayed back with Arianna and assisted Dr Gilbert, I was on the phone with my daughter Silvia at Colorado State.  Silvia commended Dr Gilbert on his order of treatments he selected to give Arianna but warned me that the vitals placed this horse in high risk. Dr Gilbert had, what seemed like a multitude of meds going into Arianna. Nine liters of IV fluids later, we started hearing gut sounds again.
Arianna was stoic and kept her ears alert on her filly.  Meds brought back her milk, and the she took a blade of grass.  Kidneys began to function as normal too.
Our vet who skillfully saved Arianna MRV, basically charged us for his meds and the mare and foal’s hospitalization for five days.  The week old filly on Arianna’s side is doing very well too. Bill now stands at $450!  If you know an animal lover who can send there tax deductible donation to help cover this $450, no amount is too small and contribution so appreciated!
(The girls intend to send you a handmade thank you!)
Arianna and her filly are in a pen that the girls built behind our home where they have full view of mama and daughter.  Arianna is eating Alfalfa hay we graciously received from Dr Gilbert and some local grown coastal hay.  We have hooked up a fan and have a running hose to wash her and her baby when hot.  They didn’t mind making preparations in the heat of the day, Arianna fought her gallant fight for her baby, so they would do the same for her.
Thank you to Dr Gilbert and the staff at North East Texas Equine Vet and everyone for your prayers and good wishes for the girl’s mare and filly. Your prayers mean everything to the girls and I and we will never forget this 4th of July miracle.
Dr Donna
Arianna MVR is a 15 yr old purebred Arabian mare who has produced five superior foals (4 fillies, 1 colt: two of which are in Egypt, another is a six times stakes winner in Texas, one in reining training and the last one,  a bay filly, born on July 2).  Her therapy record is just as substantial, as the last two girls matched with Arianna gained so much and one has transitioned into University with a full-ride scholarship.  Arianna is a giving, spiritual Arabian mare who communicates with tenderness to girls who had been so hurt and shut down.  She is always protective.  When in the Colorado pastures, Arianna was feared by predators or unwanted cattle and Elk who came too close to the pen.  As she proved again last weekend, she is a spirited warrior and we love her!

Elder’s Meditation of the Day – June 24

by tgradmin on Jul.02, 2009, under Inspiration

We are created by God to be vision people. First we set the goal and then we see. If we create within ourselves a picture or vision and we hold that picture or vision in our mind, whatever we picture will show up in our reality. If we can see ourselves being educated, then schools and teachers will show up in our lives. If we picture in our mind a positive, spiritual person to be in our lives, we will attract this type of person in our relationships. How big can our dreams be?

Great Spirit, let my visions today be Your vision. Put within me a vision of the being you would have me be. Then help me to keep the vision in my mind.

As we near July, we are asking our friends for a little help. Since we are a non profit organization we are always looking for sponsorship and monetary contributions. So, as we go forward we will be setting up several venues to address these issues. We are asking our friends to spread the news about our organization and our missions needs.
